February 2013
his weight and appetite declined over the last two months going from 3 pounds to almost 2 pounds.
We took him to our vet early on but they could find nothing with x rays at all then a bump formed very quickly into size of a grape torward's the end of January so we booked a appointment with an other Doctor at the Avian center on the upper west side where he went under a operation to lance the abscess.
Pus does not form like liquid in Guinea pigs the pus forms like mozzarella so the infection will not respond to antibiotics with out lancing Omelets infection was internal maybe hay cut the lining inside the mouth or he bruised his jaw chewing on the metal cage and the tissue died leaving bacteria the chance to infect him we are not so sure but antibiotics are of no help with out opening it up and flushing it out everyday.
He was on two seperate antibiotics Baytril to Sulftrim then we had lab results telling us what culture was infecting him he is on two antibiotics Chlorampheniconl and Flagyl.
We now have Omelet's sutures removed and the hole in his neck that was open for flushing is closing it will be along time before we get him to 3lbs again but he is back to being himself I love Omelet he is tough and been a great pet through this whole ordeal.

2013
2013 is here and I've been busy with a sick guinea pig Omelet who has some kinda mouth pain
since December 24th he now has been to the vet twice and has a clean bill of health even had Xrays taken showing no signs of illness Omelet is 3 and half years old and the alpha male in the pack of boars aka guinea pig males we own. So Omelet must of injured his mouth by chewing the cage bars when our pig Truffle came to visit us for a week around Christmas. Omelet non stopped chewed on the bars thinking he can get to Truffle.
We did come up with a solution for when the guinea pigs chew the metal we rub a lemon on the cage and they run off disgusted of the lemon.
So all this hand feeding and being worried he has had some improvement in the water bottle and eating department just he dropped a few ounces and we want him to put the weight back on and you really can not get fat on leafy greens.
Also Truffle before December 24th had some very small bladder stones come back but I'm confident the diet, herbs and lots of water flushed the stones out.because when left on Christmas he was a normal truffle.
Archie is an other male guinea pig we look after and he does not like drinking from the water bottle
so I have to give him produce but the last few days I have been getting him interested in the water bottle he is healthy and one crazy wild pig.
Dumbo is doing well also Gravy is doing great so hope to a good year of health to our pets:)

Assortment of photos
Hello I'm Bacon a black dwarf hamster I look fwd to scrambled eggs in the AM
Omelet sleeping he loves this blanket all the pigs love this blanket my beloved Tommy also passed away on this blanket.
Christina got me a Calphalon grill nonstick pan from target good for making paninis and grilling meat also this pan can be placed in the oven so cooking fish and pork chops on my stove top and finishing them off in the oven is great.I made a chicken pesto mozzarella panini with sundried tomatoes and bottle gourd on ciabatta was so crunchy crisp and tasty also the grill did not dry out my chicken. Also clean up is a snap just let the pan cool down rinse and gently wipe off.
Aser York and Atari I like seeing there stuff around the city.
